Discriminating English scholars in the early Middle Ages had a dilemma. In their diligence, they noticed excerpts of old prayers in Latin differed from the way Latin was being spoken then. The concentration on the discrepency was because they were averse to and had a disinclination to altering prayers; they may not work in the changed form! This was the first time the digression of a language was noticed in the Middle Ages. Latin was turning into French, Spanish and other languages. People have a disdain for Middle Ages learning but this was an important discovery. Alert English scholars in the early Middle Ages had a problem. In their steady effort, they noticed passages of old prayers in Latin were different from the way Latin was being spoken then. The focus on the change was because they did not want to and had an aversion to changing prayers; they may not work in the changed form! This was the first time the wandering of a language was noticed in the Middle Ages. Latin was turning into French, Spanish and other languages. People have a low opinion for Middle Ages learning but this was an important discovery.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF VOCABULARY STORIES

WHAT THE VOCABULARY STORIES ARE FOR The stories are writing exercises. I select ten vocabulary words from a pack of 500 SAT words. Then, I try to make a very short story with them. This forces me into writing things I would never think of. I then translate it into other words - paraphrasing it. This is enjoyable for me. You can read the story and try to paraphrase it also as an exercise. Using the words is an activity that refreshes them in your mind. Just rote learning of vocabulary is much too boring and ineffective.
